About The Position

Based in our Fargo or Alexandria offices, we are seeking a Building Automation Technician - Level 1 (Point and Device Commissioning Technician) to join our team. This person is responsible for verifying that all field devices and control points are installed correctly, wired properly, addressed accurately, and functioning as intended. This role forms the foundation of successful commissioning. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, committed to quality, and eager to contribute to our growing team. Requirements

  • Entry-level to 3 years BAS or electrical experience
  • Familiarity with BAS field devices and controllers
  • Basic HVAC and controls knowledge
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and control drawings
  • Ability to use test instruments and tools

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or equivalent experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • supports the installation, start-up, and maintenance of building automation systems under the guidance of experienced technicians
  • assists with point-to-point checkout of sensors, actuators, valves, dampers, and I/O
  • verifies basic wiring and labeling, and helps confirm controller I/O connections
  • assists with sensor calibration
  • maintains basic commissioning checklists and documentation
  • helps identify installation issues for review by senior team members
  • supports preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting while learning building automation systems, tools, and best practices
  • Travel to job sites will be required
  • on-the-job training will be provided to support skill development and career growth.
