We’re looking for an experienced HVAC technician who enjoys hands-on work and problem-solving and has a strong mechanical and electrical background. In this role, you’ll work with modern, computer-controlled Building Automation Systems (BAS) to support large campus HVAC systems - adjusting temperature settings and schedules, calibrating DDC components, and troubleshooting and repairing controls. You’ll also take part in maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment. About this role Asses problems and repair general HVAC work Work with computer-controlled BAS that controls large campus cooling systems Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC mechanical and electrical components Adjust temperature setpoints, and operation times, calibrate DDC components, and troubleshoot and repair controls and communication problems through BAS software Perform inspections of contracted work for installations, repairs, service, and maintenance of complex equipment and control systems in county-owned and managed facilities Initiate materials lists, soliciting cost estimates, and oversee delivery of parts and materials to job sites Coordinate project schedules with building occupants and contractors, and the maintenance of records and warranty information Enter work order information in the computerized Maintenance/Work Order Program and complete paperwork Work Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Participates in on-call rotation for any emergencies (with emergencies typically only occurring 2-3 times per year) Provided with this position: Tools, full uniform, steel-toed shoes, all necessary safety equipment (PPE), County-issued phone, County-issued vehicle, and a laptop while at work

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience in HVAC trade
  • Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process
  • Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
