About The Position

Coho Construction Management is seeking a skilled Building Automation System (BAS) Operator to support facility operations at the National Museum of the United States Army (NMUSA) located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The BAS Operator is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and maintaining the museum’s automated building systems, including HVAC, humidity control, ventilation, and related mechanical equipment, to ensure occupant comfort, system reliability, energy efficiency, and compliance with strict museum environmental preservation standards. This role requires technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and professionalism suitable for a high-visibility government installation.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to a secure government installation at Fort Belvoir, VA.
  • Experience operating and maintaining commercial or institutional BAS platforms
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, environmental controls, and mechanical equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting building automation systems and field devices
  • Proficiency with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, IntelliWeb, Metasys, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or similar systems
  • Understanding of BACnet, Modbus, and/or proprietary communication protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Strong computer proficiency and analytical troubleshooting skills

Nice To Haves

  • Niagara N4 Certification (preferred)
  • HVAC/R or controls-related certifications (e.g., EPA Section 608, HVAC Controls Technician) (preferred)
  • OEM-specific BAS training certifications (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate BAS platforms to manage HVAC, humidity, ventilation, and environmental systems.
  • Respond to system alarms and troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks.
  • Adjust schedules and setpoints to support museum environmental standards and energy goals.
  • Perform routine system checks, assist with preventive maintenance, and support repair activities.
  • Maintain system logs, generate reports, and coordinate work orders.
  • Collaborate with facility staff, contractors, and security teams to ensure system reliability and compliance.
