About The Position

Join our team as a Building Automation Project Engineer as we expand into the Birmingham, Alabama market. This role will initially be fully remote while our Birmingham office is established. Once operational, there will be occasional travel to local job sites. You’ll work on integrating HVAC, lighting, energy management, and security systems into high-performance buildings, collaborating closely with our field operations teams and clients. The ideal candidate must reside within a commutable distance (approximately 50 miles) of Birmingham, AL. We are headquartered in Jacksonville, FL, with offices across Florida, and we’re excited to continue our growth by opening a new location in Birmingham. At Brooks, your work has impact. Requirements

  • Experience with building automation systems (Niagara, Distech, ACAD preferred)
  • Knowledge of protocols like BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, lighting, energy, and security systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Degree in engineering or relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement building automation systems based on project needs
  • Integrate HVAC, lighting, security, and energy platforms
  • Create system schematics, wiring diagrams, and control sequences
  • Program controllers, sensors, and automation devices
  • Support final commissioning and provide technical assistance to field teams and end users
  • Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices
  • Ensure projects meet safety codes and regulatory requirements
