About The Position

The Division of Student Affairs is the hub of student life and well-being at The University of Texas at Austin. The team inspires all students to live the Longhorn life through its uniquely designed programs, spaces and resources. They serve every student through physical health, mental health and well-being services; recreational sports; university student union facilities; family orientation and the University’s official parent association. The Division supports 1,000+ student organizations; student governance organizations; student outreach, veteran, legal, and disability and access services. The team also provides student employment; leadership, first generation and volunteer programs. Serving under the Division of Student Affairs, the University Unions’ mission is to enhance the student experience and enrich campus life by providing cultural, educational, social and recreational programs as well as related goods and services to the campus community. University Unions proudly offers a comprehensive range of services across multiple buildings on campus. Our spaces include meeting and performance venues, administrative offices, dining operations and recreational facilities like our bowling alley and cutting-edge Esports spaces. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a part time Building Attendant II for the University Unions, Dobie Center.

Requirements

  • Experience in any of the following fields: custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production, or facilities maintenance.
  • Experience following basic work instructions.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Six months or more experience in any of the above listed fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with supervisors and peer group in a timely and effective manner.
  • Experience using industrial-sized custodial equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, written instructions, product labels and instructions, and other written job materials.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be an effective team member.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the area immediately outside the facility remains neat and clean.
  • Assist with floor care, including shampooing carpets, scrubbing floors and stripping and finishing floors.
  • Clean, stock and maintain the male and female restrooms.
  • Assist with room set-ups and breakdowns for special events.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust and remove trash throughout the facility.
  • Follow job requirements, and direction from building supervisors.
  • Use proper cleaning materials, correctly operate janitorial equipment and adhering to required safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building supervisors.
