The Building Assistant is responsible for supporting students’ success by ensuring the school day structure runs efficiently. The ideal applicant should be able to work in collaboration with other building educators to provide high-quality, engaging care for students in a variety of settings, such as the classroom, the lunchroom, recess, and one-on-one support. This is a 10-month position that is supervised by a member of the school leadership team.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Experience in an urban school setting
  • All employees must be able to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), a Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute small and whole group learning activities
  • Actively manage and engage students in a variety of settings, including recess, lunch, and the classroom
  • Proactively support students who are struggling behaviorally
  • Work with staff to ensure a safe and joyful school environment
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
