About The Position

The Building and Grounds Lead is responsible for the overall management, operations and maintenance systems of buildings and grounds to assure efficient operations and to provide for the safety, health and comfort of staff and the public utilizing The Salvation Army's (TSA) facilities. This position will provide limited maintenance and property assistance for the officer’s quarters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Five years of job-related experience
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, sprinkler systems, elevators, and boilers
  • Skills in basic carpentry and repairs to plumbing, electrical and structural systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
  • Willingness to learn new software as needed
  • Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
  • Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)

Responsibilities

  • Manage custodial and maintenance staff by assigning and supervising work performance and schedules
  • Orders and organizes supplies, keeps custodian closet well stocked at all times
  • Cares for all maintenance equipment
  • Creates and completes cleaning schedules for both inside and outside the facility including offices, bathrooms, halls, walls, parking lots, and green spaces
  • Provide routine repair of buildings and utility systems, including normal reoccurring repairs and preventative maintenance, coordinating repairs with vendors
  • Maintains buildings and its systems ensuring maximum efficiency and functionality including electrical, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, gas, water systems, boiler and elevator where applicable
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of the fire and security system compliance with state and local safety codes
  • Maintains clean floors by sweeping, vacuuming, spot removal and shampooing carpets and rugs
  • Maintain and repair exterior areas including green spaces, parking areas and sidewalks ensuring they are well kept and clean, alerting Divisional Headquarters of serious repairs
  • Maintain pool vehicles and schedule repairs
  • Maintain safe and tidy grounds by removing snow, ice, debris, mowing lawns, trimming shrubbery and trash removal
  • Assist in the upkeep and repair of other divisional owned properties
  • Stocking, storing, and recording all materials and supplies in the warehouse
  • Completes preventative maintenance logs and safety inspections
  • Maintain vehicles,
  • Schedule vehicles for service or repairs,
  • Alerting Corps Officer to any safety concerns or repairs
  • Assist in moving furniture, setting up and tearing down for programs
  • Transports donations, deliveries, and program participants as necessary
  • General upkeep and light maintenance at officer’s quarters including lawn care
  • Handles emergency building concerns before or after hours, such as snow removal
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.
