About The Position

This position manages and supervises Bureau of Operations support functions in the areas of computerized management information system, operating budget and purchases, assets management, procurement, a two way mobile radio system, special highway repair plans and contract preparations, invoice coding and processing, and highway records maintenance.Essential Functions Maintains accurate records for preparation and control of the annual maintenance budget and computing manpower requirements. Ensures that all data is promptly entered into the Asset Management Program (AMP), that all related equipment is promptly serviced, and that all user personnel are kept abreast of latest policies and procedures regarding its operation. Ensures that inventory records are maintained and updated for all tools and supplies. Ensures that records for the road inventory are maintained and updated. Prepares and monitors City Maintenance Agreements. Maintains records for preparation and ordering commodities, tools, supplies, and annual purchases. Orders salt and maintains salt records. Assists in the prompt handling of emergencies such as ice and snow removal, floods, tornadoes, vehicle accidents, etc. Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules. Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree majoring in business, accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration, transportation, or a related field PLUS two years of experience in business, accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration, transportation or a combination thereof OR Eight years of experience in business, accounting, economics, statistics, public finance, public administration, transportation or a combination thereof.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • District-wide and out-of-district travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Occasional night work.
  • Occasional overtime.
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
