About The Position

This position works under the Executive Director for Student Affairs Finance, the Budget Coordinator is responsible for the comprehensive coordination, management, and reporting of budget, financial, and administrative, functions across the UNLV Division of Student Affairs with a dedicated focus on the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). This position leads and coordinates the annual divisional self-supporting budget preparation process, including the development of budget presentations, divisional statistics, and financial reporting for the division's annual report. The Budget Coordinator serves as a primary subject matter expert for the University's ERP (Workday) and internal budget practices, providing essential guidance and training to divisional leadership and operational unit finance personnel. Key responsibilities include monitoring and analyzing budget and financial activities across the division's four operational units and the VPSA office, preparing various budget and financial reports and projections, and contributing to financial proformas for student fees, commission-generating activities, and capital projects. The role contributes to the creation and maintenance of the division's auxiliary unit business plans and audits contracted business partner revenues. Furthermore, the position identifies and recommends cost savings or other financial efficiencies, manages divisional monetary transfers, and coordinates Workday financial security access requests. The Budget Coordinator also provides direct budget fiscal and human resources leadership for the UNLV Scarlet & Gray Free Press, including budget preparation, student worker hiring, payroll coordination, expense management, and reporting to its advisory board. This role is instrumental in developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with divisional budget and finance policies, advocating for divisional priorities with university budget and finance departments, and coordinating financial planning calendars and external funding source tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
  • 1-3 years' experience
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in budget preparation, financial analysis or accounting, preferably within a higher education
