About The Position

The APFA Board of Directors is seeking engaged, thoughtful members to serve on the National Budget Committee, a vital group that works under the direction of the National Treasurer to review, advise, and support the Union’s financial planning and oversight. The Budget Committee is responsible for helping prepare APFA’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with the priorities set by the Board of Directors, and assisting with quarterly financial reports. Members may also be called upon to review spending and recommend adjustments throughout the year, especially during times of economic or operational change. This is a meaningful opportunity to help ensure that members’ dues are used responsibly, that our union remains financially strong, and that our budgeting process reflects the values and needs of our membership.

Requirements

  • Must be an active member in good standing
  • At least one current Base President must serve on the committee

Nice To Haves

  • Background or education in finance, budgeting, accounting, or business administration
  • Prior service on a budget, finance, or audit committee, or as a trustee or board member (within or outside a union)
  • A demonstrated interest in the labor movement and union solidarity
  • Experience with or a desire to support the modernization of union operations, including technology-forward approaches to budgeting and reporting
