About The Position

The Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM) is seeking highly motivated graduate students to join our Budget team as Budget and Management Interns. This internship offers hands-on experience in state budgeting, economic and tax policy analysis, and public administration. As a Budget and Management Intern, you will work alongside budget analysts and contribute to projects that shape Ohio’s fiscal policy. Interns will work between 16-24 hours per week in our downtown Columbus office. If selected, the primary workdays will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays; we can work with your schedule. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s program (or accepted to start in Fall 2026).
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Interest in government budgeting and policy

Responsibilities

  • Conducting economic and tax research to support decision-making.
  • Assisting in the preparation of operating budget guidance for state agencies.
  • Shadowing budget analysts and assisting with day-to-day tasks.
