About The Position

Markon is seeking a Budget Analyst to support budget execution, financial analysis, and resource planning within a Sponsor organization. The analyst will provide budgetary expertise, monitor financial activity, and support management decision-making through accurate analysis and reporting.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (business, finance, or related field preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budget execution, contract management, or program/project management.
  • Strong understanding of budget execution and fiscal controls.
  • Knowledge of business resource planning and federal budgeting practices.
  • Experience using automated financial systems and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain budget topics to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment and work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare vouchers for certification, verifying funding accuracy against approved spend plans.
  • Perform budget execution support, including monitoring spending rates, obligations, commitments, and expenditures.
  • Provide budgetary guidance and analysis to customers, identifying deviations from planned spending and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor OGA funding transfers and financial activity within the assigned area.
  • Interpret and apply finance policies, Sponsor authorities, and office procedures to resolve moderately complex budgetary issues.
  • Serve as the first level of review for policy interpretation questions involving customers.
  • Originate and maintain budgetary data in Sponsor financial systems, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Assist management in developing budget policies, procedures, and resource plans.
  • Support budget formulation activities, including resource displays and submission preparation.
  • Prepare and maintain budget execution reports and analysis for senior leadership.
  • Support implementation of operating guidance, including Congressional marks and management decisions.
