About The Position

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Budget Analyst. This position is responsible for conducting budget development, implementation and monitoring tasks, as well as providing financial and program analyses and reporting for multiple programs within the department. Responsible for developing and implementing fiscal policies and systems, rate development, position management and conducting research. Provide professional financial assistance and reporting to other budget analysts, program management, and accounting staff for budgetary functions and related activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field required for all levels. Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 1\: 1 year of related experience.
  • Level 2\: 2 years of related experience in accounting, budgeting, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of state accounting and budgeting requirements.
  • Ability to formulate recommendations based on analysis of financial transactions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of internal programs and internal customers.
  • The successful candidate must pass a name-based background investigation as a condition of employment.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States must be provided if selected for hire.
