About The Position

Under general supervision, the Budget Analyst reconciles financial information, monitors performance against plans, prepares variance analyses, and provides administrative and financial support for Academic Affairs. Additionally, supports Academic Scheduling through analyses and room reservations, while regularly meeting with administrative units. Performs account reconciliation, monitors budget to actuals, financial reporting, and completes financial documents and financial analysis for Academic Affairs Administration units as assigned. Reconciles financial information, monitors performance against plans, and prepares variance analyses quarterly. Assists with training units, troubleshooting, and updating training materials on fiscal processes, systems, and tools as assigned. Provides administrative support and financial support as needed for Academic Resources and Planning. Provides assistance to Academic Scheduling including room reservations and analyses of schedule of 10 classes and academic space. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • General knowledge of budgeting principles, concepts, and processes.
  • Skill in following guidelines and providing input and feedback.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze and summarize mathematical and statistical information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheet software and applications.
  • Ability to learn financial systems.
  • Organizational and time management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities; ability to work in a fast-paced office environment and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in accounting/finance area
  • Intermediate-Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in higher education is highly desirable
  • Experience in use of enterprise systems such as Oracle PeopleSoft.
