About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Budget Analyst II for the department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Administration and Finance Manager, the Budget Analyst II provides support with the day-to-day management of all fiscal operations of the department. Provide financial support with pre and post-awards including grants, contracts, and various budget and finance functions on restricted and non-restricted accounts. Assists with short- and long-term planning and assists with financial projections and analysis. Develops and analyzes fiscal and administrative data. Among the key duties of this position are the following: As needed, handles departmental administration for pre- and post-award grant administration. Works with the departmental faculty on proposal submissions, effectively planning and scheduling activities that guide faculty through the application process, providing sound project budgets, and ensuring proposals are submitted to the Office for Research within the requested time frame. Prepares monthly reconciliations and projections for unrestricted accounts and restricted gift and grant accounts. Reviews and reconciles all expenditures for funding availability and appropriate programmatic support of department's strategic mission and objectives. Analyzes clinical and financial data and prepares financial and administrative documents and reports for internal and external purposes. Prepares, reviews, and reconciles with accuracy all purchase orders, quotes, blanket orders, cash transmittals, journal entries, payroll, commitments, and other financial transactions and documents. Prepares and reconciles payroll/people soft transactions (hourly pay, other pay, charging instructions, salary, and wage redistribution justifications). Reviews and disseminates effort certification reports to faculty.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience in maintenance and review of budgetary and fiscal records.
  • Experience with MS Office (including Excel) required. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
  • Strong organizational and financial skills required.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
