About The Position

Openings are available for an Embedded Software Engineer at Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. This is a hybrid position, requiring the employee to work both from home and from the anticipated worksite, and thus must live within a reasonable commuting distance. The role involves collaborating cross-functionally throughout the full product lifecycle of base software in support of future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key responsibilities include contributing to the development of requirements, high-level design, and detailed design documents for Linux/QNX/RTOS board support package (BSP) software. The engineer will prototype on evaluation and first sample hardware to drive software architecture decisions, leveraging hardware capabilities, and provide software support and bring-up for hardware modules developed in-house and through external suppliers. The position also requires testing and debugging BSP software to ensure quality and reliability, while adhering to common software development practices, including source code management and agile development methods/scrum.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in C or C++ Programming to design and develop embedded software for microcontrollers, DSP, or ARM microprocessors.
  • 2+ years of experience with Drivers or embedded application development targeting Linux, QNX, or RTOS operating systems.
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing Git, SVN, CVS, or VSS for source code management.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in designing and implementing firmware or bootloaders in a bare metal environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in software debugging using JTAG, JTRACE, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM, or GDB to identify the root cause and solution for software defects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross functionally to full product lifecycle of base software in support of future Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
