Purpose of Role The Broker Dealer Operations - Fixed Income Intern supports the end‑to‑end lifecycle of fixed income trades by ensuring accurate trade capture, confirmation, and settlement across products such as corporate bonds, agency bonds, and mortgage‑backed securities. The role is responsible for validating and reconciling trade, cash, and position data, resolving discrepancies with internal teams and external counterparties, and preparing timely operational and market reports for stakeholders. It also involves maintaining accurate trade information in internal systems, supporting data gathering and analysis for traders and portfolio managers, and contributing to workflow and technology improvements that enhance overall operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business analytics, finance, information systems / technology data science, and mathematics is preferred but accounting and economics are accepted.
  • Genuine interest in one or more of the program’s departmental tracks.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship, including, but not limited to, F-1, J-1, and M-1 visa holders, as well as individuals on CPT or OPT.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full trade lifecycle by assisting with trade capture, confirmation, and settlement for fixed income products such as corporate bonds, agency bonds, and mortgage-backed securities.
  • Validate and reconcile trade data to ensure accuracy, investigating and resolving discrepancies with counterparties and custodians.
  • Assist with cash and position management by monitoring cash flows and performing daily reconciliations of positions and valuations.
  • Gather and organize market data, economic indicators, and performance metrics to support reporting and analysis for traders and portfolio managers.
  • Prepare regular operational and market reports for internal stakeholders and update internal systems with accurate trade information.
  • Collaborate with trading desks, sales teams, and other operational groups to resolve issues and ensure smooth processing of trades.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements and technology enhancements by identifying inefficiencies and supporting implementation of new processes.
