About The Position

SiriusXM is shaping the future of audio. As a Broadcast Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and evolving the systems that power 160+ live radio studios and mission-critical broadcast infrastructure — ensuring 100% on-air reliability across a 24/7 production environment. Project work is an important aspect of the role, helping to improve workflows and increase our level of technology. You will be an active contributor and implementer of Sirius XM Broadcast Projects and will have the opportunity to lead projects.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years of hands-on technical experience in broadcast or media content creation facility
  • College degree in a technical discipline or equivalent military or industry experience.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and Google Docs, Lucidchart/Visio and AutoCad
  • Willingness to take initiative and to follow through on projects
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Work independently and in a team environment
  • Project professionalism in all forms of communication
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and be comfortable on a ladder
  • IT experience in the provisioning, supporting, and maintaining of endpoint and server hardware and software.
  • Diagnose and address endpoint issues for users that are both remote and local.
  • Incident ticketing and management using ServiceNow
  • Configuration and support of Windows and Linux server operating systems
  • Virtual infrastructure/computing support at the direction of Tier 3 staff.
  • Experience in working within a data center environment
  • In depth knowledge of Windows and Apple OS, including MS Office, Office 365, and Adobe Creative Cloud products.
  • Understanding and troubleshooting of data network routers, switches, firewalls, and circuits using Splunk, Solarwinds, Wireshark or similar tools
  • Installation, configuration, and support of varied broadcast/production software
  • Digital and IP-based audio/video routing, playout and recording systems
  • Installation and deployment of systems, networks, and structured cabling within a broadcast facility
  • Broadcast consoles and related studio equipment fault diagnose experience.
  • Familiarity with satellite downlink operations and hardware support
  • Ability to diagnose, detect and isolate equipment faults by equipment log review and analysis of signal flow documentation
  • Ability to read and create schematics and data flow documents (AutoCAD/Visio)
  • Must be able to work on-site and all shifts required in a 24x7x365 broadcast and production facility (i.e., days, nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • CLI management and scripting experience a plus
  • Knowledge of configuration of Evertz, Telos, LAWO and other media encoding devices is a plus
  • Experience with automation and/or AI tools such as chatGPT, Gemini, etc.

Responsibilities

  • This is a shift work position at a 24/7 on-air Broadcast facility.
  • Studio support: Technical Support of 160+ Live Radio Broadcast studios, both on-site and remote
  • System support: Review systems operations logs, install software and firmware updates to a range of broadcast specific hardware and IT based workstations and servers- both physical and virtual.
  • System Troubleshooting: You will use your engineering abilities to isolate and resolve issues for multiple Broadcast Systems throughout the facility or at remote sites and Datacenters, escalating when needed to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) via escalation procedures.
  • Multi-Site VM Infrastructure: Maintain Virtual Infrastructure VMs across multiple sites and data centers. This includes virtual Servers, workstations and appliances, and management of user desktops.
  • Network troubleshooting: Perform initial network troubleshooting either locally or across sites, gathering pertinent details for escalation to Network Operations teams.
  • Issue tracking: In addition to troubleshooting, you will ticket issues and communicate status to management and affected teams.
  • Team interaction: You will work closely with other SiriusXM teams to resolve broadcast issues, such as Operations Centers, Facilities, Networking, and Music, Sports and Talk Ops.
  • Implementation: Install and decommission Broadcast equipment and systems.
  • Vendor Engagement: Interact with Equipment vendors to resolve issues with specific products.
