About The Position

RINA is currently recruiting for a Bridges Engineering Manager to join its office in Chicago or Lisle, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division. The Bridge Engineering Manager at RINA, formerly Patrick Engineering, is an exciting and pivotal position that puts you at the forefront of groundbreaking bridge projects. As the Bridge Manager, you'll lead a dynamic team of talented engineers, driving innovation and excellence across a range of high-impact projects. They will be an essential member to our growing bridge practice with the opportunity to work on exciting projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study. Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in bridge design
  • Illinois S.E. licenses
  • Strong bridge technical experience with ability to complete projects on time and within budget
  • Experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges
  • Experience with IDOT projects. Illinois Tollway bridge and/or railroad bridge projects preferred
  • Transit or bridge experience is a plus
  • Experience with new bridge projects and bridge rehabilitation projects
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams and independently manage tasks required to complete structural work in accordance with client requirements
  • Bridge and structure inspection experience preferred. Bridge Inspection Team Leader qualification preferred
  • Experience with structural design/analysis software (e.g., AASHTOWare BrD/R, PTC Mathcad, MicroStation, SAP2000, LARSA-4D, LUSAS, Merlin Dash, MDX, Bentley Open Bridge Suite, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Nice To Haves

  • Bridge and structure inspection experience preferred
  • Bridge Inspection Team Leader qualification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee bridge-related tasks and projects as the Task Leader, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery
  • Develop comprehensive plans, specifications, and estimates for a diverse range of bridge projects to meet client requirements
  • Conduct NBIS inspections, prepare detailed inspection reports, and perform live load rating to assess the structural integrity of bridges
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and perform in-depth alternative analyses to optimize project outcomes
  • Provide construction phase services such as reviewing shop drawings, addressing contractor queries, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures
  • Mentor and guide junior staff members, as well as oversee the work of CADD Technicians, to foster a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment
  • Contribute to project pursuits by developing technical approaches for Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and actively participate in work planning and budget tracking
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in challenging situations
