The Bridge to the Operating Room program is a paid 6-month training program (March 2026 start date) for EXPERIENCED Registered Nurses (RNs) to learn the fundamentals of nursing practice in the surgical environment. All candidates MUST HAVE 1 year of previous RN experience with interest in becoming a long-term Operating Room nurse to be considered. This training program combines the Association of Peri-Operative Registered Nurses (AORN) online didactic learning platform, with lectures, clinical skills labs, simulation training, immersive experiences, and clinical shifts with a preceptor to prepare the RN for working in the OR. Upon successful completion of the didactic portion of training, the nurses are paired with preceptors, spending time in each of the surgical specialties offered at their location of hire. The goal of the Bridge to the Operating Room program is to prepare the RN to function independently in the operating room. Note: This is a paid, full-time program. Candidate will work an 8-hour dayshift, Monday-Friday until the training is complete. During the first 6 months of training, there will be NO weekend work and NO on-call. Once moved into your full-time position, the staff member will join the Operating Room (OR) on-call rotation per department requirements.
