About The Position

We’re seeking a Bridge Regional Operations Lead to help lead and grow our Western Region bridge practice, based in Phoenix, AZ. This is a high impact leadership role for a seasoned bridge professional who thrives at the intersection of technical excellence, operational strategy, and people leadership. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Regional Bridge Practice Lead and Regional Director to drive operational excellence, resource strategy, and project performance across bridge and bridge heavy multidisciplinary programs. You’ll remain hands on with marquee projects while influencing how work is delivered across the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)
  • 15+ years of bridge design and delivery experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Arizona required, additional western states a plus)
  • Deep knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and bridge design for steel and concrete structures
  • Experience with bridge design software such as MDX, MIDAS, Leap, FB Pier, CSI Bridge, or OpenBridge
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ADOT bridge standards strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on local and regional bridge and multidisciplinary projects, serving in senior technical and project leadership roles as needed.
  • Foster strong collaboration and work sharing across Michael Baker offices, regions, and external partners.
  • Partner with department managers to strategically plan resources, forecast staffing needs, and align talent with project demands.
  • Oversee quality, financial performance, and delivery standards, working closely with the Quality Assurance team.
  • Support regional business development efforts, including client engagement, pursuits, proposals, and interviews.
  • Assist with the recruitment, development, and retention of key technical and leadership staff.
  • Advance firmwide standards, best practices, tools, and QA/QC processes, ensuring consistency and operational excellence.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, mentoring, and professional growth across the organization
