Bridge Inspector Team Leader Benesch is hiring a full-time Bridge Inspection Team Lead to join our talented team and help make a difference in the communities across Benesch. This role will primarily conduct bridge inspections, prepare field inspection reports, and determine load capacity ratings. Other duties involve providing support in the planning and supervision of project activities. Location This position will require travel with the base office in our Austin, TX location. The Impact You Will Have The successful candidate for this position will be primarily responsible for bridge inspection services and engineering support including report generation and load rating analysis. Coordinate, plan, market, and manage multiple bridge inspection projects. Perform bridge safety inspections in accordance with NBIS and DOT, and supervise team members in the completion of inspections and reports. Preparing neat and organized reports. Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner. Performing tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned. Working independently under the guidance of a Project Manager/Senior Engineer.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years related experience
  • NBIS Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI), with up-to-date refresher training
  • TxDOT precertification 6.1.1 Routine Bridge Inspection Team Leader or ability to obtain this precertification in near future
  • CBSI Team Leader
  • Familiarity with DOT Publications
  • Bridge inspection assignments vary greatly, but physical requirements like climbing embankments and manipulating ladders should be expected
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Candidate should not be averse to working at heights or adjacent busy roadways
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Positive experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders
  • Accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects
  • Strong work ethic

Nice To Haves

  • BSCE or related discipline preferred but not required
  • EIT and plan to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) Registration preferred but not required
  • Fracture Critical Inspection / Scour Evaluation training a plus
  • SPRAT certification a plus
  • Experience preparing reports for inspections, including iForms, BMS2, National Bridge Elements (NBE), etc.
