Unleash your talent and redefine what’s possible. Parsons is now hiring for a Bridge Engineer II to join our Kansas City team supporting major regional road and bridge projects. The ideal candidate will report remotely, based in the Kansas City area. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis (or related field)
  • 5 years or more of progressive bridge and structural engineering experience with transportation projects; state DOT bridge design experience is needed
  • Professional Engineer Registration is required
  • Proficiency in utilizing structural analysis and design software, as well as CAD/BIM tools commonly used for bridge projects, is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and participate as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, and a demonstrated ability to take on increasing leadership responsibility within the structures discipline

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the final design of bridges and transportation-related structures, including minor and major bridge design, is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of applicable bridge design standards and guidelines including AASHTO LRFD, state DOT design manuals, and related federal requirements is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate frequently with senior engineers and project managers; perform a wide range of bridge and structural engineering and design assignments requiring the independent application of standard and advanced engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for projects of varying size and complexity
  • Utilize drafting and modeling software, tools, and programs to develop and refine conceptual, preliminary, and detailed bridge designs
  • Perform and review design calculations for bridge superstructures and substructures, including material quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates, and support value engineering efforts
  • Assist in and increasingly lead the production and modification of design calculations, load rating analyses, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned bridge projects
  • Support coordination with other disciplines (roadway, drainage, geotechnical, traffic, utilities, etc.) to ensure integrated and constructible bridge and transportation structure designs
  • Assist with scope development and refinement, and support management of project tasks related to bridge design, including schedule and budget tracking
  • Participate in internal and external project progress meetings and provide technical input on structural issues and design decisions
  • Provide limited guidance to junior engineers and designers on assigned tasks, helping to ensure quality and adherence to applicable design standards, including state DOT and AASHTO criteria
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
