About The Position

The Brewer/Cellarman position supports brewing, fermentation, cellaring, filtration, and sanitation activities according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), quality standards, and negotiated work rules. This role maintains process parameters, completes required production documentation, monitors equipment performance, and performs routine maintenance while adhering to all safety and OSHA protocols. The technician helps ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe facility by communicating effectively and working assigned shifts with flexibility.

Requirements

  • Good safety record and excellent attendance.
  • Must be a self-motivated team player with a “Can-do Attitude.”
  • Basic computer (MS Office), math, and mechanical skills required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to read, write, and interpret SOPS and work instructions.
  • Ability to operate or to quickly learn multiple pieces of brewery equipment.
  • Ability to manage your time and stay on task.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitude.
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and move up to 165 pounds with equipment or assistance.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to sit and or stand for 8-10 hours per day.
  • Must be able to climb multiple stairs and ladders.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-year technical degree preferred with formal brewing education and/or previous food/beverage production experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate fermentation, cellaring, filtration, brewing, and sanitation systems according to good manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain established quality parameters within the raw material handling, brewer, and cellar operations.
  • Record and verify all required data within the brewery.
  • Submit daily logs for operations control and input data into production software.
  • Assist in the maintenance and requirements of raw material and process material inventories.
  • Provide required samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Monitor mechanical and operational integrity of brewing equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment from all aspects of production, including fermentation, cellaring, filtration, and brewing.
  • Conduct active, effective communication
  • Work variable shifts as scheduled.
  • Work with prescribed cleaning chemicals based upon established protocol, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain sanitary standards for the microbial integrity of the products.
  • Maintain the operational and aesthetic condition of the facility.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment during operations and work with technicians as needed to repair or minimize downtime.
  • Manage quality control on all equipment and products being produced
  • Wear proper safety equipment in GMP areas.
  • Clean machines and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Drive forklifts safely, moving materials and ingredients as necessary
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area, disposing of excess materials.
  • Openly communicate ideas and suggestions for improvements.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule as business needs dictate, which would include overtime
  • Basic understanding of the operation of all 3 lines – kegging, bottling, canning,
  • Ability to work effectively as a team and individually
  • Strong decision-making and good judgment to keep brewer/cellar areas flowing
  • Ability to multitask and get the job completed to standard
  • Cross-train in other areas (brewing, cellaring, fermentation) to advance in classification
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required and assigned
