About The Position

University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, is comprised of over 200 Board Certified radiologists with advanced U.S.-based training and expertise in all modalities and all subspecialty areas. In operation for more than 60 years, University Radiology staffs, manages and provides preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for hospitals, imaging centers and other medical facilities, and serves as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 2.1 million radiology procedures per year. University Radiology is looking for a full-time Breast Biopsy/Mammo Screening Coordinator for our Neptune, NJ Imaging Office Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm The Biopsy/Mammo coordinator will act as a liaison between the imaging office and the patients to insure accurate communication between parties.

Requirements

  • Medical and/or radiology practice experience is required
  • Good phone etiquette and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to multi task
  • Good computer skills
  • Familiarity with medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Breast cancer patient care across all settings with all healthcare providers
  • Collaborates with all care providers to assist in the provision of quality/ patient care
  • Communicates with patients, their families, physicians and other Health care providers
  • To promote quality care as a patient coordinator, provide expert knowledge and technical information as necessary
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of protocol requirements and policy changes
  • Assumes a leadership role in the development of standards for patient education
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining own competency and continuing education in breast health education.
  • Collaborates with other breast cancer navigators for support and shared knowledge
  • Explains procedure to patients. Answers all questions and redirects unanswerable questions to appropriate person.
  • Interviews patients, obtaining pertinent history with patient consideration and privacy.
  • Prepares and presents case as it relates to tumor board
  • Schedule biopsy for Neptune, Holmdel, Point Pleasant, Cherry Hill, and Tinton Falls offices.
  • Maintains an accurate log of all studies performed.
  • Monitors and moves patient safely and timely through their procedure.
  • Makes sure the birad 4 and 5 patients are placed on the schedule in a timely fashion.
  • Obtains pertinent clinical history required for Radiologist review and approval of procedure.
  • Acts of a Radiologist/Surgeon liaison
  • Trains appropriate personnel when needed.
  • Understands and applies application to locate patient image for procedure
  • Ensures pathology results are available within 72 hours post procedure or notifies the Radiologist of the delay.
  • Is responsible to notify referring physician of biopsy results per protocol.
  • Handles all cases from beginning to end on the Informarix system
  • Verifies the accuracy of the Patient History entered into Magview
  • Prepares all patient worksheets for the daily screening session with the Radiologist
  • Verifies all prior images are in place for the Radiologist, retrieves from Fuji if necessary
  • Creates the normal/abnormal report in the Magview dictation system while assisting/supporting the Radiologist as he/she reads a group of screening mammograms
  • Final Pathology: Search/obtain and interpret pathology report by entering/correlating information into the system in Magview
  • Be familiar with HIPPA and OSHA regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • May be required to work in or near area containing specialized imaging equipment and must be able to adhere to all department and facility safety protocol.
