About The Position

Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for experienced Breakdown Hoist Operator to join our Scotia, CA Planer team on Swing Shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am). This is a non exempt position at an hourly rate of $24.65. This position includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two to five years related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
Read, interpret, and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals as well as instructions and memos
Basic Algebra and Geometry
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing, oral, or diagram form

Responsibilities

Breaks down units of lumber for grade to sort for Planer in a safe and productive manner.
Checks for rocks or other items that could damage planer knives and removes them as necessary.
Checks for bad incoming lumber and removes as necessary.
Keeps lumber straight going into feeder.
Keeps infeed chain straight and clean.
Pulls stickers when necessary.
Keeps equipment and work area clean
Other duties as assigned
