About The Position

Grand Canyon University’s Brand & Media Project Graduate Assistant assists in overseeing the brand, media(s), and marketing programs that serve the office of Student Engagement within Student Affairs. This goal-oriented position coordinates a team of student workers with a focus on mentorship, creativity, and project management. Graduate Assistants can be a 9 month or 12-month role depending on the needs of the business; the department needs to specify the conditions under which the tuition will be covered and the start and anticipated end date of the graduate assistantship. The department can specify the administrative responsibilities or projects needed in the job posting. The GA compensation rate is the same for all GA administrative positions.

Requirements

  • By the start date of position, Graduate Assistant must be enrolled in a graduate program at Grand Canyon University, preferably in marketing, communications, project management, social media, leadership, business, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0. (If a student is newly admitted to the University, the admission GPA is considered for this requirement.)
  • A student must also maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during their employment.
  • Because of the role as student and employee, graduate assistants assume responsibility for upholding the University’s Student Code of Conduct.
  • Graduate Assistants are eligible for waiver of tuition for the period employed.
  • Waiver of tuition may be taxable income.
  • Graduate Assistants must follow the HR employment workflow processes and pre-employment background checks.
  • Graduate Assistants have restricted work hours (maximum of 29 hours per week).
  • After all degree requirements for the planned program of study are met, a student is no longer eligible to receive a graduate assistantship.
  • “Incomplete” grades must be removed during the period following the teaching period in which the “I” was recorded in order to continue the assistantship.
  • Graduate Assistants are part-time employees and not eligible for GCU’s employment benefits, except those stipulated by law.
  • Assistantships may be revoked at any time duties are not fulfilled satisfactorily.
  • Experience in leadership roles, creative services, customer service, marketing and social media, photography, or project coordination preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and clients.
  • Ability to manage timelines, follow up on assignments, and lead peers/teams effectively.
  • Comfortable providing guidance and mentorship to student workers.
  • Familiarity with project management and social media platforms (e.g., Monday.com, Trello, Instagram, LinkedIn, Hootsuite, YouTube, TikTok, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of photography, social media, and Adobe Creative Cloud is required.
  • Professional, dependable, and able to represent the department and university with integrity.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends based on project needs.
  • Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Grand Canyon University.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, project management, social media, leadership, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior involvement in campus programs, student affairs, or creative/media-related work preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience (including student leadership or peer mentoring) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate photography projects (promo and recap) from intake to delivery
  • Create, manage, and oversee Student Engagement Medias (print and digital)
  • Manage and oversee the Sudent Engagement Brand (guides, approval processes, etc)
  • Manage timelines and task tracking within the project management platform
  • Serve as the main point of contact for media-related project updates and follow-ups
  • Schedule/document meetings, shoots, and content reviews with clients and student workers
  • Assign and oversee tasks for student workers, ensuring quality and timely execution
  • Maintain organized archives of completed photo and media assets
  • Track and report on project progress, timelines, and media-related performance metrics
  • Support project deliverable revisions, approvals, and delivery logistics
  • Make sure of alignment with GCU brand standards in all deliverables and medias
  • Help onboard, train, and develop photography student workers
  • Research and recommend current media trends and tools to improve creative quality
  • Establish, maintain, manage, and meet metrics and goals for medias as directed
  • Assist the Project Manager with operational needs and campus-wide initiatives as assigned
