About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for fabricating, fitting, and repairing steel equipment components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years related welding experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Welder Certification Program.
  • Expertise in analysis, critical decision making and process improvement.
  • Capable of reading, understanding and following weld procedure.
  • Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures in place at the facility.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand AWS welding symbols.
  • Ability to read specifications, shop drawings, schematics and blueprints.
  • Familiar with all related hand tools.
  • Knowledge of and ability to read tape measures, Dial and Vernier Calipers, Squares etc. to perform in process inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates all welding equipment to construct parts from components.
  • Measures and inspects all parts to ensure conformity to engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Supports company objectives by using skills whenever needed to help meet metal shop production goals.
  • Assists and trains others in development of skills and adherence to quality standards, when requested by supervisor.
  • Helps maintain inventory of materials and welding supplies.
  • Completes quality and production documentation, when requested by supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Participates in company-wide quality and performance improvement efforts.
  • Operates sheet metal fabrication equipment, as required.
  • Cleans or degreases parts.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
