About The Position

The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for CATF's 2025 Box Office Manager. CATF, a summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays each season in three venues. CATF is committed to supporting the unique needs of new work while fostering an environment of fun and company community. Located 90 minutes from DC, CATF makes its home in one of America's coolest small towns, Shepherdstown, WV. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Box Office Manager is a leader of the Audience Services Team, providing radical hospitality to all CATF audience members and helping facilitate an exceptional festival experience directly and through the training and management of the Audience Services Team.

Requirements

  • Being a leader of the Audience Services Team requires patience, flexibility, collaboration, excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm for working with and assisting the public, attention to detail, and skill with databases and ticketing technology.
  • Additionally, the successful candidate will value and practice Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive (ARAO) efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage venue box office and ticketing operations throughout the Festival
  • Train and coach box office interns including processing tickets, reservations, and donations in CRM (Spektrix); payment management; and providing excellent in-person customer service
  • Train and coach concessions interns including merchandising, sales processing, and superior customer service
  • Manage and assist House Manager and house manager inters, creating a welcoming environment for all Festival attendees
  • Assist house management team to coordinate accessible services and technology
  • Manage and assist Group Sales Manager to provide on-site support for Festival groups
  • Reconcile daily cash, check, and credit card sales and prepare financial reports
  • Provide excellent customer service to audience members over the phone and in-person
  • Act as concierge, providing information about dining, lodging, and other activities
  • Assist box office interns to manage will-call and wait lists
  • Create and distribute weekly schedules to box office and concessions interns
  • Assist in keeping all venue public spaces clean, safe, and organized
  • Other duties as assigned
