About The Position

This position is responsible for efficiently and healthfully filling all food orders. The role involves training in and performing both cashier and cook functions, including taking food orders, operating the POS register, handling payments, preparing food on the grill, oven, or fryer, and delivering orders. The work schedule will be determined by the cafe's business needs.

Requirements

Food service or cash handling experience.
Must be able to demonstrate money handling skills: able to make changes, reconcile bank and compute discounts.
Effective communication skills - good auditory acuity, ability to respond to questions, provide information, and demonstrate interpersonal skills and abilities that promote positive guest service.
Needs to stand/walk for long periods; able to perform routine bending and lifting of product up to 20 lbs.; able to perform repetitive motions of arms, hands, wrists, and fingers; occasionally lifts and maneuvers up to 50 lbs.; and works in a noisy environment.
Exhibits a professional demeanor through appearance and by maintaining a positive attitude toward all employees and guests.
Must possess or obtain a Food Handler’s certificate within 30 days of employment.
Requires criminal history clearance check.
Must be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

Ensures customer satisfaction through prompt, efficient, and friendly service.
Efficiently takes food orders, enters the POS system, and handles payment methods appropriately.
When the food order is ready, promptly deliver the order to the guest.
Dispenses beverage orders, including soft drinks, and hot drinks, and prepares smoothies to order.
Assists with food preparation, including pizza making, cutting, and slicing condiments, and replenishing supplies as needed.
Prepares cooked foods to order, including grill cooking, fryer, or oven use.
Ensures that food items are always handled healthfully and safely, always adhering to food handling standards and practices.
Constantly maintains work and supply areas in a healthy, sanitary, and safe manner.
Keep café seating areas clean and free from debris, promptly dispose of used products left at tables, and wipe down tables, chairs, and condiment counters under established cleaning guidelines.
At the beginning and end of each shift, check supply needs and replenish accordingly.
Keeps supervisor apprised of operational concerns: menu items, recipes, safety practices, kitchen inventory and supply needs, etc.
Report any health standards or safety needs immediately to the supervisor.
Ensures that the operation of equipment, tools, and materials is always handled safely.
Adheres to company policies, regulatory laws, codes, and department procedures.
Promotes internal guest service standards with courteous and respectful behavior with co-workers.
Other related duties as assigned.
