About The Position

Under general supervision, this role performs incoming and outgoing boat inspections as well as decontaminations and educates patrons about the Boulder Reservoir (Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) program, protocols and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of the Aquatic Nuisance Species training program and exam within 2 weeks of hire required.
  • One (1) year of experience in customer service or cash handling.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to demonstrate effective and efficient radio communication and park emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge of recreational watercraft.
  • Skills and proficiency in Amilia Recreation Management software and other Reservoir software.
  • Skills and proficiency in the Spanish language.
  • Experience with use of tools and outdoor equipment.
  • Certified by the State Department of Parks and Wildlife as a Stage 1 Boat Inspector for the ANS prevention program.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains Colorado Watercraft inspector and decontamination certification.
  • Administers all protocols associated with the Boulder Reservoir Aquatic Nuisance Species Program.
  • Performs inspections on all watercraft entering and exiting the Boulder Reservoir.
  • Enters inspections into our internal software and into the State database.
  • Performs data entry and spreadsheet maintenance for record keeping purposes.
  • Educates Boulder Reservoir visitors on rules of facility and on current ANS protocol.
  • Distributes printed educational materials to visitors.
  • Communicates to park visitors of recreational opportunities and public use regulations.
  • Greets a wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicates effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups.
  • Answers phones and email inquiries, provides information about our policies.
  • Maintains knowledge of facility emergency response protocols and their role in those responses.
  • Exercises considerable independent judgment while prioritizing tasks, responding to emergencies, and interacting with staff and the public.
  • Monitors radio transmissions actively and responds in a clear and concise manner.
  • Delivers prompt and professional solutions to staff and public interactions.
  • Handles complaints and criticism with grace, elevating problems and concerns to reservoir management as appropriate.
  • Operates the registration system, including Point of Sale, Membership/Pass Validation, Facility Reservation and Program Registration In the shoulder seasons.
  • Processes daily admissions fees by cash, check or credit card through our point of sale system.
  • Track patrons, keep tallies of party, picnic, and special event participants accurately.
  • Scan membership cards and assist patrons with the purchase of passes, permits and equipment rentals.
  • Performs cash handling in accordance with the City and Department policies and internal controls and can accurately balance cash drawer and provide accurate change.
