About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated full-time Bottle Baby ICU Technician to provide care for neonatal kittens at their state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus. This role involves a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, including one weekend day, offering three days off per week. The technician will be responsible for the direct care and treatment of neonatal kittens, including bottle feeding, tracking activities, and ensuring their warmth and thriving. The position also involves guiding and leading volunteers assisting with neonatal kitten care. During off-seasons or slower intake periods, duties will expand to include caring for other animals at the shelter and related assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of a Veterinary Technician program or minimum of 6 months of experience in a veterinary hospital
  • Must have experience feeding kittens and puppies
  • Must love kittens and demonstrate a safe and humane handling while caring for them
  • Self-starter who can perform and make a positive impact without direct supervision
  • Be an effective communicator who interacts professionally with volunteers, hospital staff and shelter personnel
  • Proficient with windows computer systems
  • Able to learn programs such as Chameleon (software used with animals in a shelter environment and enter information accurately and completely)

Responsibilities

  • Provide care and treatment for neonatal kittens
  • Bottle feed kittens
  • Track feeding and care activities
  • Ensure kittens are kept warm and thriving
  • Guide and lead volunteers who are assisting in the care of neonatal kittens
  • Care for other animals at the shelter and perform related duties as assigned in off seasons or slower intake periods
  • Answer emergency phone calls from fosters and provide assistance
  • Follow departmental procedures for euthanasia including administration of drugs
