About The Position

CMCB seeks four Lead Facilitators to supervise interns and coordinate the day-to-day elements of the Boston Arts Internship (BAI) Program, a 7-week summer program for rising high school seniors in Boston administered by EdVestors, an education nonprofit. The ideal candidate has large-group classroom teaching experience for youth in secondary (late high school to early college) settings and a strong youth engagement background. They are an enthusiastic, empathetic, and motivating mentor who enjoys working with teens and displays excellent communication and presentation skills. Lastly, the Lead Facilitator is a detail-oriented and organized collaborator. Working in close partnership with organizations throughout the city, these students will work as interns at arts and cultural institutions and attend program cohort days dedicated to college and career readiness, cultural experiences, field trips, and college visits. CMCB is a longtime partner of EdVestors, serving as a worksite for the BAI Program, and is working in close partnership with EdVestors to provide direct service to interns during Summer 2026.

Requirements

  • Availability to work in person from April through August
  • Minimum of 2-3 years teaching experience in classroom large group format (public school preferred) with youth in secondary (late high school to early college) education settings
  • Direct experience working with, mentoring, and facilitating conversations for teens, exercising and mirroring active and empathetic listening skills
  • Ability to form trust-based, strong relationships with teens and young adults
  • Strong youth engagement background with knowledge of creative youth development principles and practices
  • Demonstrated time management, classroom management skills, and organizational skills with the ability to work successfully within tight timelines
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and presentation skills; ability to connect with, motivate, and/or inspire youth of diverse abilities, cultural backgrounds, gender expressions, and other forms of identity
  • Regularly reflects on practice, seeks out, receives, and grows from feedback, and demonstrates self-awareness and commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Willingness to take the initiative and the ability to see projects through to completion
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain appropriate confidentiality, particularly regarding interns' health, safety, and wellness
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency with Google and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and with Zoom video conferencing
  • Enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and a positive attitude are essential
  • Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in multi-week summer or intensive afterschool programs.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Vietnamese, and/or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is highly desirable
  • Theatre, music, and/or visual arts creative practice/background
  • Alum of the Bloomberg Arts Internship

Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate meaningful lesson plans on community building, mentorship, and workforce readiness
  • Implement program logistics such as attendance monitoring, scheduling, curriculum creation, supplies, technology, and travel
  • Assist with evaluation, documentation, and showcasing of program impact
  • Lead, mentor, and support groups of high school interns during program cohort days, including supervising interns on weekly field trips to local colleges and cultural institutions
  • Partner with the Youth Development Manager to provide clear and direct communications to interns
  • Monitor and report the mental, emotional, and physical wellness of interns to CMCB and EdVestors staff
