About The Position

About the Booth Attendant position: The Booth Attendant position is in the Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) within the Department of Transportation Services. Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation-related services for the UW campus community. The primary functions of Transportation Services include the sale/management of parking permits, special event coordination, maintenance and enforcement, construction coordination, lot and booth operations, citation payments and appeals, information technology, financial, transportation planning, and development of multimodal options. The Booth Attendant is a key member of Transportation Services, serving as the primary point of contact for our clients and customers to ensure a welcoming and supportive experience for all. This role is responsible for collecting parking fees at the exit of staffed parking structures and assisting permit holders when having difficulties exiting the parking structure while maintaining the customer service standards of Transportation Services. The Booth Attendant will be stationed at the exits of UW Hospital to assist permit holders, patients, and visitors with parking payment and exit the lot, assisting anywhere from 1 to 50 customers per shift. Part-Time: 50% FTE Hours generally scheduled Saturday and Sundays from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional nights, weekends and holidays may be required for this position.

Requirements

  • Experience with cash handling, processing payments, resolving issues, and providing information to support customers effectively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally
  • Customer service experience with a diverse range of customers, including varying backgrounds, needs, and communication style
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience or ability to learn two-way radio, intercom and phone communication with customers and staff
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities

  • Exchanges tickets and cash from customers as they enter or leave facilities
  • Informs customers of parking policies and acts courteously.
  • Assists customers by giving directions, calling for emergencies, and locating vehicles
  • Maintains fee computers
  • Maintains lots by contacting enforcement for the citation or removal of vehicles that are illegally parked
  • Ensures safe and doors are locked whenever leaving the booth and at the end of each shift
  • Assists in the training of new employees
