Texas Oncology is looking for a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Transplant RN Coordinator to join our team! This position will support the Dallas Medical City location. This position is Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no call. What does the RN Transplant Coordinator do? Under general suervision, the RN Transplant Coodinator, Coordinates the transplant department and provides comprehensive nursing care to patients and families during all phases of the transplant program. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) or MSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum three years actively practicing as a registered nurse, including at least two years oncology experience.
  • Willing to consider a mid or senior level candidate.
  • Experience and knowledge of the purpose and use of chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer and hematopoietic stem cell transplant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and reports the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the transplant physician.
  • Provides psychosocial support to patients and families throughout therapy and rehabilitation.
  • As necessary, facilitates communication among patient/family, physician and interdisciplinary team through facilitation of regular case conferences.
  • Facilitates or schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures and future appointments required for admission to the program and throughout the transplant process.
  • Provides expert care for the transplant patient at all phases of the process consistent with established standards and utilization of the nursing process.
  • Provides patient, family, community, and professional education to those interested in the process of transplantation.
