Explore our Full-Time Staff Benefits The role The Manager oversees operations, administration, and governance support for the ASI Board of Directors and its committees, while directly advising and developing student leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in leadership, administration, or public sector work
  • Experience with project management, governance, or student development
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university in student development/counseling, public policy, political science, business administration or a related field.
  • Three years’ related experience and/or training, involving organizational leadership, public service, project management or similar work in the public sector or education sector
  • Experience supervising students and staff in administration, assessment, and corporate affairs activities and projects
  • Must have strong computer skills and must have working knowledge of MS-Office including Word and Excel.

  • Experience supervising staff and/or student employees
  • Familiarity with CSU or higher education environments
  • Experience working in or with the CSU auxiliary field is preferred.
  • Experience working with a non-profit Board of Directors is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Board and committee operations, including agendas, minutes, materials, and compliance postings
  • Manage board logistics, scheduling, and meeting coordination
  • Advise student leaders on governance, policy, and procedures (Robert’s Rules, Open Meeting Act)
  • Serve as custodian of official Board records and documentation
  • Supervise staff supporting Board operations
  • Develop and deliver training and onboarding for student board members
  • Support policy development, resolution writing, and compliance review
  • Oversee the administration of ASI Scholarships and Research Grants programs
  • Coordinate with campus partners to ensure compliance and program effectiveness
  • Oversees the management of document flow from Board Committees to the Board of Directors.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of action lists, scripts, calendars, and other documents as needed to ensure timely and proper execution of Board functions.
  • Oversees preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, and supporting material for review, distribution, and posting in compliance with ASI Bylaws, policies, and open meeting guidelines.
  • Oversees the timely distribution of material to the Board of Directors.
  • Supports the Board of Directors with meeting arrangements.
  • Supervises a coordinator level employee who executes task assignments related to all areas of Board of Directors support.
  • Supports directives from ASI management regarding streamlining of Board and Committee meetings, including display of documentation materials and technological or other improvements to ensure flow and timeliness of meetings.
  • Advises and interprets policy in matters of compliance with Robert’s Rules of Order and the Gloria Romero Open Meeting Act of 2000, including timing of closed sessions and special or emergency meetings.
  • Assists, consults, and collaborates on policies concerning student government, leadership, and management.
  • Leads resolution preparation in collaboration with staff and student leaders.
  • Supports applicable public records requirements and retention of Board documents with applicable staff.
  • Manages staff direction in the administration of ASI Scholarships and Research Grants.
  • Oversees program processes related to marketing planning, application review, processing and committee administration for ASI Scholarships and Research Grants.
  • Ensures collaboration with stakeholders and campus partners, and compliance with regulatory requirements and related policies and procedures.
  • Leads application process, review, and awards process with the ASI Board of Directors and campus partners (e.g. CSUF Financial Aid, Student Business Services, etc.)
  • Conducts assessment of the programs with relevant staff to ensure compliance with all disbursement and other policy guidelines, as well as continued growth of the programs and reporting of program usage.
  • Coaches and advises student leaders through regular meetings and frequent communication and interactions.
  • Takes part in researching, developing, and implementing effective training and development programs for student leaders, and attends and implements training and development program at times after normal business hours and on weekends, as needed or directed.
