About The Position

Controls the process, maintains quality standards and ensures continuous improvement of the total blow molding process to include: blow molding machines, vision systems, and laser dating systems.

Requirements

• High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to stand or walk for 12 hours
• Ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs.
• Regularly uses hands to handle and feel product.
• Regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.
• Frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.
• Ability to see close (at 20 inches or less) and distance visions (20 feet or more).
• Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

• Leads the blow molding team members assigned to the shift and is the first point of contact for operators.
• Ensures team members are working in a safe manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work practices.
• Ensures plant quality standards are being met and maintained by the department.
• Controls the process of multiple blow molding machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
• Evaluates and improves operator’s skill level and assist in training operators.
• Troubleshoots and performs adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
• Assists with new machine setups.
• Performs preventive maintenance on machines.
• Reviews process data daily to ensure department is meeting or exceeding efficiency requirements.
• Completes downtime reports and error logs.
• Effectively communicates issues to the shift supervisor, packaging technicians, and production manager.
• Provides coverage for operator breaks.
• Ensures the department maintains a clean work environment.
