About The Position

The Birthday Party Helper is responsible for assisting in the set up for the birthday party, leading games, keeping children entertained, and cleaning up after the party.

Requirements

Must be at least enrolled in high school.
Ability to work well with children and adults; creative, and flexible.

Nice To Haves

Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment
Possession of a valid driver’s license
Experience working with children
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the park district’s policies and operations and enforce them in a positive manner
Responsible for arriving 30 minutes before the party to assist with set up.
Greet the children and parents coming in for the party and get children involved in an activity.
At the end of the party, be sure to clean everything that was used and put it away.
Responsible for seeing that facility and supplies are not damaged or supplies lost during a party.
Clean up all the garbage; then, place bags in gray bin of storage area
Attend and participate in staff and training meetings
Communicate to supervisor when supplies are needed.
Perform other duties and functions as assigned
Actively supports and enforces the safety program instituted by the Park District
Maintains a working knowledge of all general agency and department-specific safety rules
Attends required safety program and in-service education meetings as directed
Corrects unsafe conditions and/or reports them to your director supervisor
Enforces safety disciplinary policies and procedures
Uses protective gloves, masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to pathogens
Always make sure all equipment and rooms used are free from any safety hazards.
Obey the practical and safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the safety program of the River Trails Park District.
