About The Position

Under limited supervision and following prescribed procedures, to maintain a continuous operation of birth data collection activities through data collection, abstraction, interviews with parents and electronic data submissions of birth and fetal death certificates to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics. To ensure all certificates are completed for all newborns, securing necessary signatures and paternity affidavits, and data submitted to the Alabama Department of Vital Statistics within five (5) days of birth. To maintain birth registrar, perinatal database and compile statistical reports. To maintain proficiency in required competencies. To consistently demonstrate behavior that models Guidehouse and UAB Medicine core values and mission statements.

Requirements

  • 1+ years medical/healthcare experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. (Experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.)
  • If graduate of a Health Information program, must be currently certified or eligible to sit for the national exam for Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) required
  • If RHIT or RHIA eligible, certification must be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire
  • State of Alabama Notary Public required
