Carle is obligated by Illinois law to submit birth certificates within seven days of birth. The Birth Certificate Registrar accomplishes this function through patient interviews, medical chart review and final approval of the parents. The Birth Certificate Registrar also files the Certificates with the State of Illinois Department of Public Health through IVRS and the McLean County Health Department as needed in collaboration with the department Administrative Assistant.
