About The Position

Biotechnologist I – Downstream (2k Asset, Night Shift) Location: Portsmouth, NH, USA. Start your career in life sciences on our Night Shift (7 PM – 7 AM) as part of the 2k Downstream team. In this foundational role, you will be trained to perform the critical "purification" steps of medicine manufacturing—learning how to take raw biological materials and refine them into high-purity life-saving treatments. What you will do Downstream Execution: Support the purification of therapeutic proteins using specialized equipment, including chromatography columns and filtration systems. Equipment Preparation: Set up, clean, and sterilize manufacturing equipment using Clean-in-Place (CIP) and Steam-in-Place (SIP) procedures to ensure a contamination-free process. Laboratory Tasks: Perform essential testing on product samples, including monitoring $extpH}$ and conductivity levels. Material Management: Safely move and prepare the buffers and chemicals required for the night's production run. Documentation: Learn and apply Good Documentation Practices (GDP) by accurately recording data in real-time in accordance with cGMP regulations. Facility Care: Maintain a clean and organized production suite, supporting 6S standards to ensure a safe and efficient workplace. Team Collaboration: Work closely with your shift team and participate in shift handovers to ensure a seamless transition of the 2k production schedule. What we are looking for Schedule: Ability to work a rotating night shift (7 PM – 7 AM). Our rotation follows a predictable pattern: Work 2 days on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. This schedule ensures consistent time off and includes every other weekend. Early-Career Mindset: This is a foundational role. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, reliable, and excited to enter the biotechnology industry. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field is a plus but not necessary for those with a strong desire to learn. Reliability: Ability to consistently work the 7 PM – 7 AM rotational night shift (which includes some weekends and holidays). Technical Aptitude: A mechanical curiosity and the ability to follow complex, step-by-step written instructions. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and work in a cleanroom environment, which includes wearing specialized protective gowning.
