About The Position

The Biorepository Research Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting all operational activities within the biorepository. This includes the collection, processing, storage, and shipment of biological specimens in accordance with approved study protocols, institutional policies, and CAP-accreditation requirements. The Biorepository Research Coordinator ensures the integrity, traceability, and quality of all biospecimens and associated data while maintaining accurate documentation within the laboratory inventory database. This position serves as a key liaison between the biorepository, clinical teams, investigators, and research laboratories to facilitate efficient and compliant specimen workflows. The Biorepository Research Coordinator participates in reviewing and updating the biorepository inventory to ensure data accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance with documentation standards. Additional responsibilities include coordinating routine maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, ensuring the availability of required supplies and reagents, and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives. The Biorepository Research Coordinator is expected to communicate effectively, demonstrate strong organizational and technical skills, and foster collaborative working relationships across departments to advance the mission of the biorepository and research enterprise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field)
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory, biorepository, or research operations setting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and process biological specimens with precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency in standard office and data management software, including Microsoft Excel and database entry
  • Commitment to maintaining quality and regulatory compliance in all aspects of biorepository operations

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a scientific or related discipline
  • Experience working in a regulated or accredited laboratory environment
  • Experience writing, revising, or implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or other controlled documents

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates biorepository workflows to ensure efficient and compliant specimen management across all stages of the biospecimen lifecycle.
  • Collects, processes, stores, and ships biological specimens in accordance with approved study protocols, institutional policies, and CAP-accreditation requirements.
  • Reviews and updates biorepository inventory records to ensure data accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliance with documentation and audit standards.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of all specimen-related activities, including collection, processing, and storage details.
  • Oversees the repair, calibration, and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure operational readiness and compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitors laboratory supply levels, initiates purchase requests, and ensures that required materials and reagents are available to support ongoing operations.
  • Communicates effectively with clinical teams, investigators, and cross-functional collaborators to facilitate workflow coordination and problem resolution.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives, quality audits, and training activities to enhance operational efficiency and ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Follows established safety protocols and maintains compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.
