Requirements

  • 3+ years of laboratory employment experience with an Associates Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science or 1+ years of laboratory employment experience with a Bachelor's degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science
  • Strong collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Ability to organize and present data
  • Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols
  • Proficient in using standard software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools

Responsibilities

  • Work as an integral part of the team to complete lung scaffold recellularization experiments
  • Conduct process and system development experiments under manager oversight, including developing new techniques for cell seeding and feeding of the lung scaffolds and improving hardware performance
  • Prepare lung scaffolds and reagents for tissue engineering experiments, including media preparation, cannulation, loading scaffolds into bioreactor chambers, preparing cell suspensions, and constructing tubing circuits
  • Oversee recellularization bioreactor systems, monitoring system values (pressure, flow, timing) and biological parameters (metabolism, nutrient consumption)
  • Consult with the manager and relevant stakeholders on in-process observations
  • Collect and document in-process data (e.g., pressures, flow rates) to guide tissue engineering experiments
  • Perform routine analyses of in-process measurements and recellularization data to drive system and scientific development
  • May handle human tissue, cells, and/or materials that come into contact with human cells that may carry infectious agents. Shall comply with appropriate safety procedures and exercise universal precautions.
  • Present data in internal team meetings as needed
  • Follow prescribed laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions
  • Adhere to proper laboratory safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment and handling biohazard materials (human or animal cells and tissues)
  • Maintain accurate laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s)
  • Record and manage the use of materials and reagents needed for experiments
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
  • May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to support lab experiments according to the study design
