Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Biomedical Technology (BMET) or Electronic Engineering.
  • 5 years Biomedical technology experience, to include one year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • 3 years Required experience with Bachelor's degree.
  • May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
  • This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Biomedical Engineering or Electronic Engineering.
  • 7 years BMET, military BMET or hospital manufacturer field service experience with three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with lab equipment as this position is part of the lab/research team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee daily activities of assigned technicians.
  • Enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide orientation, guidance, and instruction to team members.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Adjust staffing and workflows to meet operational needs.
  • Perform analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and upgrades on patient medical and electronic equipment.
  • Coordinate spare parts procurement for supported medical equipment.
  • Demonstrate technical competency in troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
  • Manage projects aligned with experience and institutional standards.
  • Ensure timely delivery of products and services by project due dates.
  • Evaluate equipment pre-purchase and service contracts for cost-effective support.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines and hospital policies.
  • Provide nursing in-services to reduce operator errors and improve patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to resolve equipment issues and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain open, constructive communication through conversations and emails regarding repair status.
  • Prepare incident investigation reports and implement remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Utilize software tools to meet equipment support needs.
  • Other duties as assigned
