The University of Miami/UHealth department of Clinical Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Biomedical Technician 2 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Biomedical Technician 2 (H) performs a variety of routine tasks, including the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of biomedical equipment with minimum supervision. Oversees recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to assure compliance with patient safety goals and applicable requirements. Prioritizes work load effectively and completes all work assignments in a timely manner. Maintains accurate medical equipment documentation. Orders parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment. Conducts cross-training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting biomedical systems, for less experienced technicians. Reports and documents all medical equipment operation errors and safety issues. Maintains medical equipment technical library and makes updates when appropriate. Supervises services provided by outside vendors to ensure quality and scope of services have been met. Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer recommendations. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions The Biomedical Technician II will be utilizing standard and specialized test equipment and tools to perform calibration, maintenance, and repairs of medical equipment. Repairs, tests, and calibrates most classes of medical equipment according to OEM recommendations. Performs departmental audits/rounds and inventory reconciliation. Prioritizes workload effectively and completes all work assignments in a timely manner. Maintains accurate medical equipment documentation as required by current policies and procedures. Orders parts and supplies necessary for the servicing of medical equipment. Works under minimal supervision; generally, organizes and prioritizes workload. Conducts cross-training in the techniques of testing, calibrating, operating, and troubleshooting biomedical systems for less experienced BMET’s. Communicates routinely with supervisory personnel on the status of equipment repair and maintenance activities. Reports and documents all medical equipment operator errors and safety issues. Maintains medical equipment technical library as new updates are available. Utilizes the biomedical Computerized Maintenance Management Systems to document all medical equipment activities. Supervises services provided by outside vendors to ensure quality and scope of services have been met. Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards, and manufacturer’s recommendations. Demonstrates initiative and concern for planning, time utilization and cost containment. Supports multiple hospitals, specialized laboratories, and clinical research facilities. Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
