About The Position

The Biomedical Technician Lead is responsible for leading and supervising a team of biomedical technologists in the maintenance, repair, calibration, and safety of medical equipment across the hospital or healthcare facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all biomedical devices function at optimal performance levels, contributing to high-quality patient care. The Biomedical Technologist Lead will work closely with clinical teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, overseeing maintenance schedules, and providing technical guidance and training to staff.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Biomedical Electronics, Electronics Engineering, IT Technology, or equivalent military biomedical experience required
  • 4-6 years of experience in biomedical equipment repair and maintenance, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting required
  • Experience with healthcare technology management programs.
  • ACI Certification Required (CBET, CRES, CLES or CHTM) or IT-type certification.
  • Must possess skill-set of advanced modality HTM expertise such as clinical laboratory, medical imaging, radiation/oncology, real-time location systems, alarm management middleware or high-end biomedical devices such as device integration/networking, catheterization lab/electrophysiology monitoring systems.
  • Medical equipment knowledge (manufacturers, models, modalities, capital planning, etc.).
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements of medical devices (CMS, TJC, CLIA, AABB, NRC,State, Local).
  • Advanced computer skills (proficient with Microsoft products), experience with CMMS products.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Electronics, Electronics Engineering, IT Technology, or equivalent military biomedical experience preferred
  • Certified Biomedical Technician (CBET)-AAMI preferred or ACI Certification, IT-type Certification or another applicable technical certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises a team of biomedical technicians, ensuring the efficient workflow of daily operations.
  • Assigns tasks, monitors progress, and provides training and mentoring to team members.
  • Routinely manages the corrective and preventive maintenance of devices as assigned as well as follow-up communications on this work and any other assigned responsibilities.
  • Oversees and performs routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of a wide range of medical equipment, including diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring devices.
  • Leads calibration processes for medical devices to ensure accurate performance and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Performs quality assurance checks and maintain documentation on the condition and performance of equipment.
  • Oversees inventory control of medical equipment and parts, ensuring proper stock levels and timely procurement.
  • Maintains accurate records of all equipment repairs, maintenance, and servicing.
  • Assists in the equipment procurement process by providing technical specifications and recommendations.
  • Provides technical support to medical staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding equipment use and functionality.
  • Troubleshoots complex biomedical equipment issues and lead efforts to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
