About The Position

ERP International is seeking full time Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMET) - Info Sys in support of Robley Rex VA Medical Center, Louisville, KY. Although this requisition does not apply to a funded position, ERP International values proactive candidates looking to build a meaningful career. If funding is not secured, applications will be kept on file for future opportunities. The support services shall provide interim Biomedical Engineering services to successfully ensure on-time and/or timely completion of work, including technology assessment, implementation and configuration of medical systems, technology sustainment, and incoming inspections at the new medical center.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associates Degree in an applied science or equivalent military training
  • At least one year performing medical equipment maintenance in a hospital or healthcare setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
  • Experience working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) OR Understanding of VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering dept operations
  • Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards.
  • Familiarity with the set-up and application of test equipment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
  • Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Test and calibrate components using manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, hand tools, power tools and measuring devices.
  • Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment.
  • Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments.
  • Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair and replace defective parts such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance or service such as cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
  • Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in-use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition in accordance with regulations.
  • Examine medical equipment and facility's structural environment and check for proper use of equipment, to protect patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards. Ensures compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Study technical manuals and attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge.
