About The Position

DESCO Service is seeking a BMET I to join the field service team supporting customers in the Raleigh or Durham, NC area. Dental equipment repair experience is a plus. Qualified candidates should have 12-24 months of hands-on troubleshooting experience. The role involves performing installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, and basic repair of biomedical and dental equipment at customer sites, as well as providing responsive, professional support to staff in healthcare and academic settings.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience and/or associate’s degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, or related technical field; or equivalent military/industry technical training.
  • 12-24 months of experience servicing medical or dental equipment preferred; new graduates with strong hands-on skills will be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, electromechanical systems, and safety standards related to medical devices.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel daily within the Raleigh or Durham, NC service area.

Nice To Haves

  • Dental equipment service experience (chairs, delivery units, compressors, vacuums, sterilizers, X-ray) strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity with the ability to use test instruments and hand tools safely.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Ability to prioritize work, follow procedures, and maintain an organized work environment and service vehicle.
  • Team-oriented approach with willingness to learn from senior technicians and manufacturer training.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect a range of biomedical and dental devices and systems.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing in accordance with industry and manufacturer standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and complete timely, accurate repairs with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain accurate service records in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including parts used and work performed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment status, safe operation, and basic user-level maintenance.
  • Support senior technicians on larger projects, installations, and upgrades as needed.
