The Biomedical Equipment Technician II (BMET II) is responsible for the inspection, calibration, maintenance, and repair of a broad range of medical devices used in clinical settings. This position requires strong mid-level skills, troubleshooting abilities, and an understanding of medical device regulations and safety standards. The BMET II works closely with clinical staff to ensure equipment reliability and patient safety, providing support in the installation and testing of new devices.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 3 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Technician or similar role
  • Valid state driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field or Bachelor's degree
  • Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
  • Additional manufacturer certifications or specialized training in specific equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on various medical devices, including patient monitors, infusion pumps, defibrillators, ventilators, and general biomedical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment issues using diagnostic software, service manuals, and schematics.
  • Calibrate devices to ensure accurate and safe operation according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Address user-reported problems, providing timely resolutions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting supporting for complex equipment issues that require escalation beyond standard technician capabilities.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers for technical support and resolution of equipment issues under warranty.
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and testing of new medical devices.
  • Conduct initial inspections and acceptance testing of newly acquired equipment.
  • Ensure all devices meet performance criteria and regulatory compliance before deployment
  • Assist in providing training and technical support to clinical staff on the proper use and basic maintenance of medical devices.
