About The Position

SUMMARY The Biologics Coordinator manages biologic therapies in a dermatology clinic, ensuring timely access for patients, coordinating with medical providers, insurance, and pharmaceutical companies, and overseeing treatments from prescription to follow-up care. They play a key role in delivering exceptional care to patients with complex dermatological conditions and ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and the healthcare team. Additional duties may be assigned to the person employed in the role of Biologics Coordinator. Essential duties and responsibilities: Act as the primary point of contact for patients undergoing biologic therapy. Provide information on treatment options, schedule appointments, and coordinate pre-treatment assessments.Verify coverage with insurance companies and secure pre-authorization for biologic therapies. Navigate insurance requirements and assist patients with co-pay assistance programs when applicable. MaintainUp-to-date patient records, including electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring compliance with both clinic and privacy regulations such as HIPAA Work with Physician to determine the appropriate biologic treatment for each patient. Participate in case reviews and communicate with the medical team on treatment progress and adjustments Educate patients on the biologic treatment process, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to their prescribed therapies. Address patient concerns throughout the treatment journey Ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation of all medications Schedule patient follow-up appointments as needed, track progress document concerns Serve as a point of contact for patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy Handling or supervising patient callbacks Facilitate referrals to specialist or other healthcare providers as needed, and ensure patients follow through with recommended treatments and appointmentsAssist in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines for environmental safety, worker’s compensation, wage and hour laws, OSHA, CLIA, Board of Pharmacy, DEA etc. Ensure a clean and organized environment Other duties and responsibilities: May perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
